The HealthInsite team monitors the performance of the site by looking at a range of statistics.
They tell us:
- how busy the site is
- the number of people using the site, and
- the topics that our users are searching for.
Statistics also help us to identify any emerging technical problems before they become serious.
As part of our commitment to providing information to our users, we have included just a few of the statistics that you may find interesting.
HealthInsite Page Views
Many sites advertise the number of 'hits' per day they record as a way of comparing themselves to other websites but this can be misleading. Each individual web page is made up of a large number of elements, usually graphics. When a page is opened, each individual element is recorded as a 'hit'. This means that complex pages with a large number of graphics will record more hits than more simple sites.
The number of Page Views is a more accurate measure of site usage than 'hits' because each page view records an individual HTML page regardless of the number of graphics or other objects comprising the page.
The following graph shows the number of page views downloaded per month since January 2003. As you can see, we have experienced significant increases.
HealthInsite Visitors
The number of users visiting the site is also a useful measure of how busy we are. This graph shows the number of people visiting HealthInsite every month since January 2003.
HealthInsite Newsletter Subscribers
The Newsletter has been available since July 2003. It is sent out as a plain text email approximately monthly to all Newsletter Subscribers and previous issues are also available on HealthInsite.
As of 2 April 2008 we have 3226 active subscribers.
The Newsletter continues to attract new subscribers every week. If you would like to subscribe just follow the instructions on the Newsletter Subscription page.
HealthInsite Resources
New resources are added to the database on a daily basis and resources that are no longer relevant are progressively archived, eg news items.
As of 3 April 2008 we have 15919 active resources in the database.
HealthInsite Partners
HealthInsite currently links to 79 information partners websites. For a complete list go to Current Information Partners .
HealthInsite Topic Pages
HealthInsite Topic Pages are one of the ways we can help you easily find information on our partners' Internet sites. Topic Pages usually include at least one, usually two, or all of the following:
- a brief introduction to the topic explaining what subjects are covered by the topic, sometimes with a summary of key issues for the topic
- links to subtopic pages and/or related HealthInsite topic pages and/or information partner pages
- a list of links to HealthInsite information partner information items on the topic, compiled automatically from a search of the HealthInsite database.
HealthInsite topic pages are a good way to find all of the topic information accessible through HealthInsite because the search included in them is a comprehensive one created by our Editorial Team.
As of 3 April 2008 HealthInsite had 1128 active topic pages.
