Lymphoedema is an accumulation of lymphatic fluid that causes swelling, mostly in the arms and legs and occasionally in other parts of the body. Lymphoedema can develop when lymphatic vessels are missing or impaired (primary), or when they are damaged or lymph nodes have been removed (secondary).
